The One Where I'm Singing Joshua Tree!

Vacation in a Vacation! I'm in Palm Springs (pictures in a few days), soaking up some dessert sun. Doing the 10,000 steps is hard, but I'm conscious.
Yesterday I crossed 12,000 steps - 12,051 to be precise. Today not looking good, just too tired.

The One In Which I'm Counting - Step by Step

Step count for Sunday - 9337
Water - 2 liters

Went to the hills again. Even though I didn't do the 10,000 steps, I think I got a much better workout - the trek up and down, was great. Never thought being out of breath was such a high. :)
I'm going to miss the hills when I get back to India. But I know I'm going to achieve so much more on the weight loss when I go back home. This is the gym I'm signing up for - www.zelalife.com and 1 hour of power yoga every day - www.aksharyoga.com
Come on hurry up Jan 11!
Until I go back home, I'm going to focus on achieving the 10,000 steps a day, drink 3.5 liters of water a day. And keep at it. Enjoy my holiday while I'm at it :)

The One In Which I'm Shaken and Stirred

On Friday, I couldn't workout because of the blisters. But I had my pedometer on to check how many steps do I take on a normal day. I was stunned. I did a mere 520 steps. Not even 1000. This is the reason for my weight. A sedentary lifestyle!! Guess it just gets easier now - knowing what the problem is, and working a solution :) yay!
Saturday I walked 10.580 steps and walked 3 kilometers (1.86 miles). Ate very unhealthily at dinner and had 4 glasses of wine. Took the "let's drink to that" in my earlier post very seriously!
Drank 3.5 liters of water as well.
Today I hope to do 12,000 steps. Got to kick "sedentary lifestlye's" big butt.

The One In Which "I Have Blisters On The Soles Of My Feet, I Can't Walk But I'm Tryingggg"

Yesterday was day day 1 of pedometer.
Steps walked - 10,705
Distance - 3.71km or 2.3 miles.
1 hour on the treadmill.
3 liters of water
all carbs before 7.30pm

Wanted to do another hour on the treadmill, but the attack of the blisters, and it's a kill joy. Blistering Barnacles!! So don't think I can do too much of the walking today. Bummer - since that's the only form of exercise! I'm going to tape it up today and hopefully with one day rest, the feet will be good to go tomorrow.
My nephew reminds me, every time I eat a biscuit,"that's 60 cal, you should avoid it." And he's only 9..
"Out of the month of infants..."
Not sure I can do 10,000 steps today. I'm going to sure try!

The One With the First Day

So I got impatient and couldn't wait till Jan 12. So I started yesterday. Did two sessions on the treadmill, since it was too cold to get out.
Two sessions on 1 hour each. Covered 6.2 kilometers in all!! 4.29 miles. Drank 2.5 liters of water and 3 cups of green tea. Ate all the carbs before 7.30. So all in all, a good day. And I'm going to make it stick.

I got my pedometer delivered from Amazon last night. Waiting to check the number of steps I take. 10,000 a day is good for weight loss the websites and blogs say. So holding my breath.

And onward we march!

The One In Which I Write It All Down

I've been reading a whole lot of blogs on weight loss, and made a few friends from different corners of the world, in the same mind space as I am in. The digits on scale is the only thing that differs. The fears, insecurities, goals, why we want to lose the weight, is scarily, but at the same time, reassuringly very similar. Good to know that I'm not the only one.
What I've read is putting goals in black and white is a great status check.
Personally, I prefer weekly goals - less daunting, and more checks and balances to set the process right, well in time. And here is where my MBA finally came to use!!

So starting Jan 12, my weekly goals are:
- work out 5 days a week
- drink 3.5 liters of water every day
- eat 2 portions of fruits and vegetables every day
- oatmeal every every every day (my biggest challenge)
- 3 cups of green tea every day
- remember that carbs and sugar are the devil, and is my one way ticket to hell

with this my goal of losing 1 kilo every week will be achieved.

Come April 12. my goal is to be 12 kilos lighter.

I want to lose 25 kilos in all.

There I've said it. In black and white. No turning back.

Let's raise our glasses and drink to that! clink clink.
